This is 15 km from Halebeedu on the road to Banavara. This contains a 13th Centuary Hoysala temple. Even this is of the trikoota type. It is named as Lakshmee Narayana Temple. But in the middle sanctuary there is an image of Sreevishnu in the sculptural design of the Sreedhara Murthy. On the left flank of this middle sanctuary we see the diety of Sree Lakshmi Narasimha, and on the right we have that of Venugopala. An attractive navaranga stands in common to all three sanctuaries. On the out side there are

beautiful Vishnu (Vishnu caturvimsati) Dieties. The traditional bands are there, and there is the sikhara too on the top.
During the regime of the Vijaya Nagara empire, a temple of Daevi, the eternal consort of the Lord, the front Garudagamba, the Dwara Palakas (the door Keepers) and the Prakara (the High Compound allround) have been accommodated in a cosy manner. The gopuram on the outer most entrance stands only half-finished. |
