Halmidi
Halmidi
To the North of Beluru town, Halmidi is situated as a little village on the border of Haasana and Cikkamagaloor Districts. This has stood the test of time ever since the days of the Kadambas. Even to this day it is just an ordinary village. But it has contributed to the world that Kannada inscription which has been recognised to have been the first - ever written document in Kannada, dating back to 450 AD. The Halmidi inscription has been deposited and safely protected in the archaeological museum at Bangalore. Nevertheless its replica has been prepared and installed in a specially designed Mantapam in Halmidi which can be found even today. For those who are bent upon studying the script and the most ancient form of the language of Kannada, this village is a worth visiting place. In addition to this, research scholars have discovered several special features of village life-style here. A very old Hoysala Style temple is also found here, but in a pitiable condition.

Thus there are twenty and more worth-visiting places adorning the Haasana District as if they are invaluable ornaments of gems and diamonds. Apart from these it is also necessary to apprise the visitors of a few of the several prominent centre of attraction that are situated all around and outside the district. They are Belavaadi, Marle, Govindanahalli, Hosaholalu and others.
