Belavadi is situated at the border of Chikkamagaloor on the road to Javagal from Chikkamagalur. Here is a wonderful Hoysala Temple with a Trikoota. The middle sanctuary enshrines veeranarayana, the one to its left enshrines Yoganarasimha, and the other, to the right, enshrines Venugopala. The idols are magnificent both in height and beauty.
On the outerwall of the Veeranarayana Sanctuary no wall sculpture is found. But the outside of the other two sanctuaries possess sculptural work. There are exquisite sikharas over all the three sanctuaries. As usual there is one common Navaranga for the triplet of Sanctuaries and it contains a number of shining round pillars. In front of the temple on the east, stands the Mukhamantapa or the Portico. Its design is of an unusual style.
In this town three other temples are there - one of Udbhava Ganapati, another of Aanjaneya, and the third one being of Kalleswara. A few years ago raw stone mining activities had taken place in the out skirts of Belavaadi.
