Arasikere of this taluk center, there is a history from the times of the Calukyas. The shivalaya in the eastern quarter of this town is the center of attraction here. This was built during the regime of the Hoysala King Narasimha the second. In the Walls of this temple one can find the idols of Sapta matrukaas, Vishnu caturvimsati and other beautiful pieces of sculpture. Sikaara on the top and the navaranga on the inside exist
according to tradition. But the mantapa on the front is circular in design. And is embellished with a decorated ceiling. Attached to this sivalaya there is a little temple with double sanctuary. In the commercial street of the town, there lies a Basadi known as Sahasra Koota Jinalaya. Only the navaranga and Garbagruha remain here today. The sculptural work herein displays. Profound skill and confounds the imagination of the spectator. The builder of this structure was Raejimayya Danda nayaka.
